Watercolor illustrations & mixed media

Pencil and watercolor flower garden

I’ve really been enjoying mixed media art over the past couple of weeks. I signed up (super late, I know) for Life Book 2017 a week or two back and all of the wonderful videos have totally inspired me to get working on new canvas art. I’ll be posting a lot more soon! I also bought a smaller 5.5″ x 8″ mixed media sketchbook from Strathmore and wow, do I ever love this thing! It’s a softcover book so really easy to bend back the cover for double page spreads and the paper is high quality and thick. I love it. I’ve been working in it for the past couple of nights, having lots of watercolor and mixed media fun.

Anyone else in Life Book 2017? It’s my first time taking an online course like this and all of the woo is a little weird for me but it’s such a positive experience and I’m really enjoying it. I wish the course was in person though. It’s much more fun to create in a group with art friends, right? If you’re in my local area, let me know! I’m in K-W. Maybe we can art together 🙂

wow-what truly beautiful pieces Sal!! I have never taken the full Lifebook Course but I have taken (and am still taking) several of Tam’s Edition (Tamara LaPorte) Lifebook classes she offers. Enjoy, and looking forward to seeing more. Happy PPF!

Lovely pieces, Sal! I love a combo of online and in person circles, and love meeting the gals who come to our monthly Red Thread Circles here in Oregon! (There’s a button on my blog)

    Happy PPF!

Your work is always so good!!! I love the lady in red (blue background). I can’t imagine having the talent to do that one. I’d love to learn from you in person but I know I’m not anywhere near any place called K-W. So keep showing us what you are doing. I think we learn from each other.

thanks for your comment on my blog, it’s appreciated. I feel just like you, I hate being disappointed with any new paint and I’m sure hoping I’m not ultimately disappointed in QOR. I have mixed feelings now, they have wonderful bright colors but the seeping in so fast to the paper with less movement is different. I think Ineed to do more work with them and see if I like the new binder. I have to admit though that the brightness of color always draws me in,lol. Your canvasses look fantastic and it’s great that an online class has inspired different work. I’ve never done the course you’re in but this month I’ll be participating in world watercolor month, maybe you’ll be there too?? I’ll keep in touch with your blog, lovely work!

These pages are beautiful. It has been a long time since I took an on line class but I am a you tube junkie and always find new ideas to try. Your wonderful bright colors in the backgrounds of the first two are gorgeous. Happy PPF
